GET A WHIFF OF THAT

Stacy Johnson was doing her thing at the Pacific Palisades Chamber of Commerce mixer when I caught up with her.  She was representing both her skincare business and her fragrance line, Bungalow.  When I realized she lived just up the street from me, I asked if I could come by.  I’d seen the line in  BOCA , but I’d  never actually met anyone that made perfume.  Who even knows how to make perfume?  I can slap together a masque with some honey and oatmeal, but perfume?  No.

IMG_4580  First of all, Stacy has the neatest home office of anyone I’ve ever met.  Ever.  Green with envy, I wanted to extract just a teeny piece of her DNA to take home with me and had to silence the devil girl that immediately began singing one of her favorite chants, “You are messy, messy, messy.”  Once I shut her up, I got to see how home-based Stacy’s business really is.   What she is holding in the above photo is fragrance– created by Stacy and made in Santa Monica with the help of one little wizard lady.  She hand pours each bottle.  You can see photos of her daughter helping her with the packaging on her site.

Behind her are the bottles. Cute little bottles, both for the spray and the oil.  Then there are the labels and the shipping envelopes.  Did I mention the product is paraben free and not tested on animals, though why you would want to spray perfectly good perfume on an animal is beyond me.  What would you be testing– if your dog likes the scent?  I’m sure if I sprayed it on Moose, he’d want it to smell just a bit meatier.

Not Tested On Moose

IMG_0214If you don’t think that what’s in your fragrance matters, you can read why it does at Whole New Mom.  Let’s just say fragrance is the “new second-hand smoke.”  Bungalow is yummy and smells like the ocean and fresh, clean baby skin.  Odd combo coming from a mom who loves to surf and has 3 kids….

Director of Marketing

IMG_4584Most mornings, Stacy starts off with a strategy session with Brooklyn, her director of marketing.  Then it’s on to kids, hub, a Beautycounter biz, some really impressive social media and more from this surfer, hiker, multiple streams of income Parsons girl. Her site and solo brand are clean, simple and accessible.  Take a look and a whiff.  Shop Stacia.  I’m impressed again by another scrappy woman using her available resources to make a little dough.
